Common questions about acquired brain injury home care
What isn't included within your ABI care?
Our ABI care focuses on supporting your loved one day-to-day, so there are a few areas our care staff can’t help with, including heavy domestic work and financial or legal matters.
We’ll always be clear from the start about what’s covered, and can point you towards the right support for anything that isn’t.
Will my loved one have the same care staff?
Wherever we can, yes. With ABI, familiar faces and consistent routines make a real difference, so we work hard to keep visits consistent, with care staff your loved one comes to know and trust.
What happens if my loved one has a seizure or medical episode?
Our care staff are trained to stay calm and respond appropriately, following your loved one’s care plan and calling for emergency help straight away if it’s needed.
Can you help my loved one regain some independence?
Wherever it’s possible, yes. Our care staff gently support your loved one to do what they can for themselves, at their own pace and without pressure. Even small steps make a real difference, and we’re there to celebrate them.
Which care visit length is right for my loved one?
It depends on your loved one’s needs, and we’ll help you work out the right fit at your care assessment. As a guide:
- Standard visit (1-3 hours): for lower to mid-dependency needs
- Extended visit (4-6 or 6-12 hours): for support with routines, community access and appointments
- Live-in care: for higher-dependency ABI needs
Whatever your loved one needs, we’ll shape it around them.
